Second Generation

3. Timothy J.2 Allen (Comfort1) was born in St. Johnsville, Montgomery CO, NY December 13, 1828. Timothy died AFT. 1917.

He married twice. He married Unknown First Wife of Timothy. From a letter from T.I.S. Boak, Jr, referring to his wife, Inez (Pat) Allen Boak: "I remember how Pat theorized that the original wife of French descent probably was the first wife which nobody then living had any way of knowing anything about. But Mother loved the idea of it!!"

He married Emily Perry. Emily was born in Little Falls, NY or Broome County, NY ABT. 1851. Albert Allen's death certificate says she was born in Little Falls. Franklin Allen's death notice on the web says she was born in Broome County. Calvin Allen's birth notice indicates that her name was Sarah E and she was born in Broom County. At that time in 1893 she is listed as having had 9 children, 8 of whom were alive in March 1893. 1880 Census shows: Timothy J Allen - 51 Emily (wife) - 29 Warren (son) - 26 Franklin (son) - 13 Edith (daughter) - 9 John C (son) - 3 Albert (son) - 1 Assumption at this point is that oldest child from first wife. Letter from TIS Boak, Jr, 1/6/2001: "I was reminded of several things that your mother and I discussed which can be demonstrated by the census data. The oldest son's occupation was "Roving Around". One thing I don't recal is that "Old Tim" was 51 in 1880 and thus was 83 when Mother was born. Assuming that she was a very precocious child (which I must assume!) let's say she was 6 when she first met Gramps. Thus 89 or more -- I wonder how interested he was in little girls or vice versa. But she did say she remembered him! May have found parents in 1840 census: http://www.rootsweb.com/~nyherkim/census/1840stjoh n.html Comfort Allen in the 1840 census of St.Johnsville, Montgomery Co, had a family as follows: Comfort Allen aged 30-40 wife aged 30-40 Male child aged 10-15 (fits with Timothy J) Male child aged 5-10 Male child aged 0-5 Female child aged 10-15 Female child aged 5-10

Timothy J. Allen and Emily Perry had the following children:

child 14 ii. Franklin Allen was born ABT. OCT 1866. Franklin died April 5, 1893 in Rockwood, Fulton Co, NY. http://www.rootsweb.com/~nyfulton/Vital/Ephdea1887 a.html Ephrata Deaths 131 ALLEN, Franklin Apr 5, 1893 Rockwood F: Timothy J. ALLEN, St. Johnsville M: Emily PERRY, Broome Co. 26-6-0, , Laborer, Ephratah; Rockwood

child 15 iii. Edith Allen was born ABT. 1871. Edith died AFT. 1942 in Albany. From letter from T.I.S. Boak, Jr. 1/6/2001: "Aunt Edith lived in Albany and she did visit Pat's family on occasion. I remember one day that Mother and I called on her in Albany."

child + 16 iv. Albert B. Allen was born April 21, 1879.

child 17 v. Calvin Allen was born in Ephratah, Fulton Co, NY March 19, 1893. I found the following birth record at http://www.rootsweb.com/~nyfulton/Vital/Ephbir1887 A.html of a Calvin Allen, born March 19, 1893 to Sarah E Allen (aged 42, born Broom County) and Timothy J Allen (aged 64, born Montgomery County). The parent ages seem consistent. According to that she had had 9 children of whom 8 were still alive! This was less than a month before Franklin died. Mar 19, 1893 ALLEN, Calvin _,9,8 Ephratah Nelson Everest M: Sarah E. ALLEN, 42, Broom Co. F: Timothy J. ALLEN, 64, Montgomery Co., Laborer
