Peggy Menear Notes for CORNELIUS CHATTERTON: I used to think that my surname was an "Uncommon" one and all Chatterton's had to be related because there couldn't be "that many". Boy was I in for a big surprise. I have found Chatterton's all over the United States. Most originating in New Haven, Conn, Rutland County, Vermont. There also was a large family from Westchester County, NY. Haven't found anything linking my family to them. But I'm still searching and have a feeling I'll always be searching. infomation on children is from 1830 census information.. Unsure when Rachel Jane was born though. At this time, parents of David and Peter are unknown. On the 1855 census in Fulton County they both listed place of birth as Saratoga County (on David's 1860 census indicates Vermont).
