Icefields Parkway to Jasper – 10/13/16
Today the entire village of Lake Louise had a power outage from 8:30 to 16:00. Since we already planned to drive the Icefields Parkway up to Jasper National Park, we left at 8:30. It is a 230 km drive each way. The weather was overcast and as we drove into the clouds, there was snow. The scenery is fantastic; on huge mountain after another, with tons of lakes and glaciers. We also saw some mountain goats
We had lunch in Jasper and then went to the Jasper-Yellowhead Museum which dealt with history of the Canadian Rockies, the railroad and the National Parks.
We got back around six and did some planning for tomorrow. If the weather cooperates, we will continue on the Trans-Canada over the Continental Divide and into British Columbia to start our winery tour up here before going into Washington.
