Atlantic Ocean – 23 March
I didn’t take any pictures of land today, as we are in the middle of the Atlantic. The big change was springing ahead on the clock one hour, which meant setting our iPhone to Halifax as the location, since Apple doesn’t allow you to say GMT-3. This interesting problem will continue as we progress eastward.
We didn’t realize about the clock so we went upstairs for breakfast around 10 am at the only place which was open. It was great, but had way more people than normal. We came back to the room, and did laundry. We had room service lunch on our veranda overlooking the ocean. A beautiful place for lunch.
Immediately after our lunch we played bridge for a while, eight hands. It was great and the opponents were nice to talk to and play with. After that, we went to a lecture about detection and interception of U-boats during WWII. A fascinating lecture. The lecturer will continue tomorrow describing Bletchley Park.
We then went down and listened to a violin and cello duo play and then went to dinner. Our friends had gone to another lecture, but we had dinner with just the two of us.
After dinner, we listened to classical music again and then headed down to hear a lecture on treasures and who owns them by the ship historian. He and his wife are archaeologists and it was quite fascinating.
After that we went to a concert with Doug Cameron, a violinist and showman. It was very enjoyable.
Now, we will spring forward to GMT-2 (Saint-Pierre for Apple people) and go to bed.
