April 4 – Barcelona
We got up in the morning and went out to a Supermercat to grab some cereal and milk for breakfast. There in the cereal aisle was Kellogg’s All Bran, which is completely unavailable in the US due to “supply chain”. Anyway we had a nice breakfast, including some yummy stuff from a bakery.
After breakfast, we set out to find the Basilica de Santa Maria del Pi. This was listed in our guide as one of the top attractions in Barcelona, which is quite a lot to say given all the wonderful Gaudí stuff.
As we walked around, we found how the people of Catalonia feel about Mr. Putin:
We also saw this interesting item being walked through a small street:
We then went to lunch at a small taparia, Bormuth, for lunch, and walked back to the apartment. For the second day in a row, Susan and I both closed the exercise ring on our Apple Watches.
At the apartment, we discovered that our wonderful CDC had changed the rules again. While no test was required in November when we returned from France, now a test is required within 24 hours of boarding the first flight. We luckily we directed by a nearby farmacia to a testing place and now have confirmed that we still do not have COVID, after being tested daily since we left Puerto Rico.
So now, we are off to the airport extra early so we can prove to British Airways that we are not sick. Plane leaves here at 1 pm, goes to Heathrow and then Logan, getting in around 8 pm EDT.
