Arrival and first day in Ireland
We arrived in Ireland Tuesday morning and were on our way in our rental Skoda (Czech subsidery of VW) Octavia from Thrifty rent-a-car. Very nice big car with five speeds and a Diesel engine. We are staying in Clifden, which is about 3.5 hours west of Dublin, so we headed out, keeping left. Very nice motorway until we got to Galway. We stopped there for lunch after finding a parking space (a major undertaking in Galway). We the. Finished the drive to Clifden and got to our lovely house. We had a minor inconvenience when Google maps led us on a wild ride after a slight wrong turn. The house is nice and after a bit of effort to get the wifi running, we had a relaxing evening and tried to stay up as late as possible to take care of the jet lag. Here are the house and car.
The only issue with the house is that there is a 5 unit condo being built right in front of it, with a large number of beefy workmen installing the solar panels.
We relaxed the rest of the day, walking up to Clifden to buy some provisions. We used a rear bedroom to avoid the workmen’s noise and went to sleep early.
