1-2 July – Saturday & Sunday
On Saturday morning we walked down to the end of Beach Rd, observing the temperate rain forest aspects of western Ireland. It is very much like New Zealand, here. Not only with all of the ferns, but the fact that there are more sheep than people.
After the beach walk, we walked up to Clifden and had a lovely lunch at Mitchell’s. In the afternoon, we drove around a ring road down to Roundstone, where we had dinner.
Sunday we took the boat out to Inishbofin island, which is the westernmost point in Europe. We had a lovely walk around the island and had lunch at the Dolphin Hotel. We walked about 5 miles.
The topography reminds me of Maine near Mount Desert island. Lots of rocks and greenery.
