July 6 – First rehearsal, Irish music and dance with lunch, Evensong and a second rehearsal
We left after breakfast and were taken to the St. Patrick’s campus of Dublin City University for practice. This was the first time the 235 voices were together in one place. Susan went with the non-singers to O’Connell Street and went to the National Museum among other places. We singers had three hour rehearsal and were then met by the bus, which also picked up the non-singers, and took us to Taylor’s Three Rock for lunch and a show. This was a place for the several hundred people associated with the concert. The show featured Irish dancers as well as a traditional Irish band. After the show, we were taken to St. Patrick’s Cathedral for Evensong. It was lovely.
We then returned to the hotel for wine and cheese and then the singers returned to DCU for another rehearsal. Susan and other non-singers had a happy hour in our room while the singers were rehearsing.
