Sunday, Nov 10 -Prague to Bad Schandau

We started the day with breakfast in the Palace Art Nouveau hotel where we were staying and then packed up all of our stuff and put the bags which were to be transported in the hall.  That had to be done by 10 am.  Then we had a long time for walking around Prague on our own.  Thanks to Apple Maps, we were able to go through lots of interesting pedestrian malls and got to the Charles Bridge, the most famous pedestrian bridge in the town.  It was quite fascinating.  Full of people.  There were even two couples posing for pictures in wedding garb.  On the way back, we tried to go to the Old Jewish Cemetery, which is supposed to be quite moving.  Unfortunately, it was mobbed, given that it was a Sunday.  We had a quick lunch on the way back to the hotel and after 2 pm, we boarded the bus to get to the boat.

Original plan was to go to Decin, Czech Republic, and board the boat there and go to Bad Schandau that way.  The water levels made that impossible, so we took the bus the additional half hour or so to Bad Schandau, Saxony, Germany.  BTW – “Bad” means “spa”.  We then were able to move into our state rooms and have dinner and briefings.

BTW – the river through Prague is the Vitava, which is also known as the Moldau if you are familiar withe Bedrich Smetena.
