Arrived in Paris on 2 November
We arrived at 6 AM Paris time (5 hours different this week; 6 hours next – Thank you Congress for making it so easy). Charles De Gaulle airport is huge and it took quite a while to make it through Border Security. They checked our COVID vaccination cards, and were impressed by three shots! The PCR test we bothered to get before, was not important and not checked, but AirFrance or Border Security.
We finally got to the taxi stand and got a lovely taste of Paris traffic for the next hour and a half, arriving at the VRBO studio apartment around 8:30. The apartment is quite small, but is fine for us. Comparable to what we expect on a cruise ship.
We unpacked and finally succumbed to sleep, given that we had had little or no sleep on the flight over. We got up in the afternoon and took a walk to find a grocery store. We are now back in the room and will probably go out for dinner around 9 PM (how European).
After relaxing in the early evening and having some shrimp&curry empanadas from the grocery store, and yes, another short nap, we headed out for dinner. We walked a few blocks and came to Bistro Saint-Dominique. After getting over the singing nuns version of “Dominique”, we had a delightful dinner, with French Onion Soup and a kilogram of beef to split. It is good to compare the onion soup to those available in the Kennebunks.
