Thursday, November 4 – Long Walk ; no Joy
We had a bit of Bonaparte’s Revenge which made us a little slower, but we walked the 3 miles to the Anthropology portion of the National Natural History museum. In the process we had a nice lunch. I had Croque Madame and was interested to find that unlike the Maine delicacy, it had no French Toast in it. It was a ham and cheese sandwich with an egg on top. Delicious, but in Maine, the bread is French Toast and they serve it with Maine Maple Syrup.
After lunch we proceeded toward the museum, passing the side of Notre Dame, where I took the only picture of the day, showing the bracing structures.
After that we went to the museum and were depressed to hear that it was sold out for today and tomorrow. Have I mentioned before that it is School Vacation Week in France so there are kids everywhere and stuff gets sold out.
We took a taxi back and were happy to find the the FREE NOW app that got us around Barcelona so well last year, also works in Paris. It is now raining and we are going to eat in the apartment. Susan is making a wonderful smelling soup.
Tomorrow we have reservations at Musée de l’Homme which is much closer on the Trocadero across the river from the Eiffel Tower.
