Occupation: occupation unknown in Homemaker. She was christened in Ainstable, Cumberland Co, England (Bp-G-5), November 13, 1825. Ann Slack was born in Bascodyke, Ainstable. The census of 1841 did not reveal the Slack family but they are shown in the Townhead, Penrith census in 1851. This is the address which Ann used on her marriage certificate. Two sisters of Ann, Mary and Isabella, were born at the Townhead address. Also living with Ann at the home of her parents, shown on the 1851 census, was Edward Slack, grandson, age 1. son of Ann "singlewoman". I assume this to be "Uncle Ned" who came to Canada with Ann and Thomas Boak in 1857 and also assume that Thomas Boak was his father. He was named "Edward Boak" and his record is in this file. He lived with Ann and Thomas until his death. I know nothing of Ann Boak but used to hear of her from my Aunt Hattie and my father who knew her from their childhood. Her brother Isaac, came to US in 1869 and settled in Philadelphia and must have visited with the Boaks in Jamestown on more than one occasion. I have a 1901 letter from Isaac's wife Sarah to Ann in which she refers to a tiff between Isaac and Thomas about which she says "this should have no effect on our personal relationship."
24 v. Mary Slack 2 was born in Penrith, Cumberland Co, England 1837.
25 vi. Isabella Slack was born in Penrith, Cumberland Co, England 1839.
