Monday, Jan 30 – Iceland

We got up after 10 am, missing some of the short daylight. After breakfast we bundled up, due to the gale force winds, and headed to downtown Reykjavik.  We went to several different stores, especially those with Icelandic sweaters. Susan got a purse and I got a great sweater. We had lunch at Cafè Babalu. Continue Reading

First Day in Iceland

We arrived around 7 am in Keflavik International Airport. Iceland is on GMT, so though our bodies said 2 am, it was really morning. Neither of us had slept very well. Anyway, we got picked up at the airport by the representative for SAScars to go get our rental. We got a diesel Dacia Duster, Continue Reading

Trip to Iceland

I am just going to use the same wordpress site for this trip   We are having dinner at the Durgin Park restaurant in Logan Terminal E. Our plane is in a couple of hours. Lila and Franklin’s care is being handled by Linda Rhuda.

Home again – 10/29/16

We got off to a late start in Albany, but knew that the trip would be short. We got gas at a rest stop in Massachusetts and we’re among the first people to try the new toll setup which eliminates toll collectors. We then continued to I-290 and I-495. We stopped at Wholefoods in Westford, Continue Reading

Long drive to Albany – 10/28/16

We got off around 9 despite the final change of time zone. As we cleared Cleveland and stopped for a break, we checked out where we would be between 1 and 2 and came up with Westfield, NY. We had a great lunch at The Parkview, in downtown Westfield. It occurred to me why the Continue Reading

To Ohio – 10/27/16

Just anxious to get home at this point and have now gotten back to Eastern Time. We left central Iowa and headed on I-80. We went past the Quint Cities, but since we were going all the way to Toledo, we didn’t stop. I did see the exit for Duck Creek Park, where our family Continue Reading

To middle of Iowa – 10/26/16

Another day, another time zone. We got off to a 10 am start, but it gave Lila a chance to run around. There was a closed area, so while I packed the Rogue, Susan and Lila played fetch. We drove to Omaha and consulted Trip Advisor and found a nice restaurant which was going to Continue Reading

To North Platte, NB – 10/25/16

Another long drive. We went Over the Continental Divide twice, at around 8000 feet. The road got even higher. It was genuine high desert. I took a number of pictures from the car, including Lila as she lounged at different parts of the car. We had a wonderful lunch in Cheyenne at the Trip Advisor Continue Reading

Rt 20 – Oregon Trail to Boise – 10/23

We started back east after a great trip.  We expect to travel big mileage each day and so, we haven’t stopped very many times for pictures  Trust me it is gorgeous in the Cascades and the Rockies.  The first trip was to take route 20 east to Boise, ID.  We went over the Cascades, rather Continue Reading
