We relaxed in the morning and got addresses of tons of wineries. Ultimately, even though there were lots in the vicinity of our hotel, we decided to travel through the Columbia Gorge. The Dalles (pronounced dalls and always used the “The”) was a rapids seen by many people in the Oregon Trail game on old Continue Reading
We left the Eden Valley Guest Ranch after giving Lila some more running time on their big field. She was upset that we had to leave. We headed down US 97 and a few other routes. We stopped for lunch in Coulee City. We arrived at a hotel in Kennewick near the Columbia River. Scenery Continue Reading
We spent the day here at or near the ranch. Here are pictures of the lodge from our cabin and our cabin itself. After breakfast, we went on a hike for a couple of hours with Lila. We are over 3000 feet up here, so we gave ourselves a bit of extra time, although Lila Continue Reading
We checked out of the resort and started on another set of wineries. We started at Ex Nihilo in Lake Country, BC and then headed over a bridge to West Kelowna and up on Mount Boucherie which had a lovely view, but didn’t allow dogs in the tasting room. We left after I took the picture. Continue Reading
We always said we were going to Washington and Oregon wine areas, but we noticed how good the BC wines are when we got them on the way. So, as I said in the last post, we abandoned the Trans Canada Highway and went to wine country. We stayed for two days at a “resort” Continue Reading
Woke up to a Winter Wonderland. Lake Louise was having a pretty heavy storm. We were planning to go though Kicking Horse Pass into British Columbia. We checked websites and it looked like it would be okay if we waited until 11 to start. The road was still closed at 11 so we spent an Continue Reading
Today the entire village of Lake Louise had a power outage from 8:30 to 16:00. Since we already planned to drive the Icefields Parkway up to Jasper National Park, we left at 8:30. It is a 230 km drive each way. The weather was overcast and as we drove into the clouds, there was snow. Continue Reading
The scenery here is fabulous. The first order of business in the morning was a walk with Lila near the parking lot of our hotel. I tried a selfie with her which was not real successful, but also shot some of the mountains here. Aafter breakfast, we headed up to Lake Louise and hiked around. Continue Reading
We are in the Canadian Rockies. Once we left Calgary, they were in front of us and gorgeous. We are staying in the Lake Louise Inn and will be here for three nights. We expect to explore and hike over the next few days. I stopped and took a couple of pictures on the way.
We had a long drive from Moosomin, SK to Medicine Hat, AB with snow coming down for whole drive. We stopped for lunch in Moose Jaw, SK at Boston Pizza, a nice chain restaurant. We arrived at a lovely little Home Inn hotel in late afternoon and went to Thanksgiving dinner (Canadian Thanksgiving happens on Continue Reading
