Day 3, Monday, April 17, Lerwick, Shetland Islands

In the morning, after a brief misunderstanding of our reservation, we went for a walk in Lerwick. We managed to find the house of fictional detective Jimmy Perez, which was important to fans of the BBC program, Shetland (which we are).

We walked around town and found a great sweater for Tom and a new purse for Susan. Considering how long we have been looking for that purse, having failed in Paris among other places. It was pleasing. We also took pictures of the waterfront and other interesting things.

After lunch, we went on the “Rural Shetland” shore excursion and had fun visiting Shetland ponies and a great demonstration of border collies.

After returning to the ship, we had a lecture on the bagpipe, then dinner and finally a guitar concert by Mark Hussey.
