Day 14&15 Friday, 28 April – London – Saturday, 29 April – Return Home
In the morning we took a taxi up to Tilbury Town, where the docks are located to pick up some drug store items we needed. On the return, we encounter a wild pig going nonchalantly on the road. Unfortunately, I was unable to get my phone out in time to take his picture.
In the afternoon, we decided (stupidly) to take the Iconic London tour. We realized it was over an hour away but it didn’t connect with the smart side of our brains, so we went off. The overview had too few potty breaks and most of the pictures would have to be taken from the bus. We did manage to see Saint Paul’s Cathedral, the London Eye (Observation Wheel, not Ferris Wheel), and other iconic things. Next week’s coronation has caused many normal things to be closed in preparation. Here are my shots. As it was, we didn’t get back to the ship until 6:30 and finished dinner around 8.
Anyway, it was the last night on the ship, so we needed to pack our suitcases and leave them outside the room before going to bed. We managed to do that pretty late, and then got up at 4:00 to make it to our bus to Heathrow. It was over an hour drive, but we still arrived at Heathrow around 6 AM for our 10:55 flight. Heathrow doesn’t tell you your plane’s gate, for several hours, so we sat and checked the monitor several times and finally went to gate 18. I like Heathrow better than Charles DeGaulle, but that isn’t saying much, but at least the return flight was nonstop. We are now home and extra tired, but will try to stay up as late as we can this evening.
Great trip.
