Day 13 – 21 Jan – Amalia Glacier
Today the big attraction for the day happened early. We went up to the Amalia Glacier and then the captain left the ship there and gradually turned a full 360 so everyone could see. We started up on deck 7 with breakfast, but the glacier was obscured by rain on the windows, which the iPhone felt was the most interesting part of the photo. After breakfast we returned to the state room, where I could go out and look at the glacier. Here are several pictures of it. The glacier is part of the Patagonia Ice Sheet, which is one of the largest non-Arctic/Antarctic ice sheets. Viking had some hands go out on a rescue boat to bring back an ice sample.
