Day 14 – 22 Jan – Chilean Fjords
Yesterday was overcast, rainy and very choppy. Walking to dinner made you feel like you were drunk and weaving from side to side. Today, on the other hand is 56 degrees outside and sunny, winds at our backs, and very smooth.
Today we went to the morning lecture on Kon-Tiki. Very interesting and we learned something, even though we had been in the Kon-Tiki Museum in Oslo in 2018. There are four lecturers on the ship this time, probably due to numerous sailing days. We have a historian from Australia, a geologist from the US, a British astronomer, and finally a Scottish lecturer, who is the same one we had on the UK tour last spring. (He has not worn a kilt once on this trip, unlike the last).
Mostly we have seen islands from a distance. We are now much further north. We are about at the south latitude equivalent to mid-coast Maine (45). We are also roughly directly south of Philadelphia (75 deg East).
