child 6 i. Lillian Josephine3 Akin was born in Ellery Twp, Chautauqua Co, NY January 19, 1856. Lillian died December 27, 1929 in Seneca Falls, Seneca Co, NY, at 73 years of age. Her body was interred December 30, 1929 in Fluvanna, NY. She married Alexander Frederic Sampson in Fluvanna, Chautauqua Co, NY, February 23, 1887. Alexander was born in Carlstorp, Smoland, Sweden May 15, 1857. Alexander was the son of Jonas Frederik Samuelson (Sampson) and Lovisa Petersdoter (Peterson). Alexander died October 9, 1919 in Fluvanna, Chautauqua Co, NY, at 62 years of age. His body was interred in Fluvanna, NY. He petitioned the court to become a citizen in Jamestown, Chautauqua Co, NY, May 8, 1916. (See Alexander Frederic Sampson for the continuation of this line.) Grandma Sampson was the oldest in her family of 4 girls and 4 boys. Her son, Clayburne traced their moving from farm to farm as nine moves, finally going to Dutch Hollow ("Louck's Place") in 1906/7. Sometime after her husband's death in 1919 fire destroyed their home and they were forced to move into what was known as "the shop" on the property. By this time only Clayburne still lived at home of course. He was married in March, 1923. In 1922 Grandma came to live with us in Seneca Falls, NY and she lived with us until she died in Seneca Falls in 1929. She was a dignified lady, one who doted on her grandchildren, and one who contributed to their growth. She was well educated. I have a letter which she wrote to us at the farm in 1927, the year Jack was born, telling us all the news from "home" and commenting on many interesting things that she had read or heard about.

child 7 ii. Ella Mary Akin was born in Ellery Twp March 5, 1857. Ella died April 3, 1933 in Balboa Heights, Canal Zone, Panama, at 76 years of age. She married Royal Elton Bliss in Ellery Twp, Chautauqua Co, NY, February 21, 1877. Royal died 1912 in Sherman, Chautauqua Co, NY. Occupation: occupation unknown in R.R.MailClerk. (See Royal Elton Bliss for the continuation of this line.)

Occupation: occupation unknown in Homemaker. Aunt Ella was a real character and when we lived in Seneca Falls she came--at least once to visit her sister, my grandmother, Lillian Sampson. She visited then from the Canal Zone where she lived with her various children. (CBS notes that she made 17 trips to the Canal Zone.) On one visit to our home she was travelling with a monkey who was named "Phillipochene". It was winter and he was put in an unfinished attic for the night. The first night he raised particular hell in the attic, tearing the window shades and ruining many other things. He was very cold!! My mother knew most of Ella's childrens very well, corresponded with them and occasionally visited with them. One unique thing about the family is that after Henry, Ella named all of her children with names which began with "G". She also used exotic names too, e. g. "GenElla Burreness". Interestingly Ella's sister, Lillian (my grandmother) named her third child, born a few months later, "Berennice GenElla". Aunt Ella died at the home of her daughter Geneva in the Canal Zone.

child 8 iii. Frank Doran Akin was born in Ellery Twp September 16, 1858. Frank died August 25, 1883 at 24 years of age. Occupation: occupation unknown in ?.

child 10 v. Harriet Rosett Akin was born in Ellery Twp, Chautauqua, NY March 3, 1863. Harriet died September 8, 1945 in Bemus Pt, Chautauqua, NY, at 82 years of age. She married William Thompson in Ellery Twp, Chautauqua, NY, October 31, 1883.

Occupation: occupation unknown in Homemaker.

child + 11 vi. James Lincoln Akin was born August 8, 1865.

child 12 vii. Van Nina Bessie Akin was born in Ellery Twp, Chautauqua Co, NY June 11, 1868. Van died February 17, 1938 in Gifford, Hardin Co, IA, at 69 years of age. She married Herbert C Moore in Jamestown, Chautauqua Co, NY, August 22, 1889.

Occupation: occupation unknown in Homemaker. "Van Nina" was known to my mother and her family as Aunt "Nine". She married Herbert Clyde Moore in Jamestown, NY on August 22, 1889. They moved to Iowa at some time after that and reared a family 4 sons and 2 daughters. A set of twins died in infancy. Aunt Nine was the person, so my mother told me, who interested my Aunt Ben (Mother's sister-Berrenice Genella Sampson) to go to Iowa on a visit where she met Ora Wood whom she subsequently married. The information on the Moore family came from Dorothea Bowman, a daughter of Merle Moore, the Moore's oldest son.

child 13 viii. Liberty Elton Akin was born in Ellery Twp April 7, 1878. Liberty died in Unknown. Occupation: occupation unknown in ?.
